Ant\u00f3nio A. Freitas is Professor at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, Director of the Unit\u00e9 Biologie des Populations Lymphocytaire and of the CNRS URA 1961. He earned his M.D. in 1970 from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, and did his PhD in 1976 at the University of Glasgow, Scotland.\n\n \t \tHe was head of the Department of Immunology of the Pasteur Institute from 1997 to 2000. His main contributions in Immunology can be briefly summarized into four different areas of the physiology of the immune system, i.e. lymphocyte migration, lymphocyte population dynamics, selection of B cell repertoires and lymphocyte homeostasis, survival and competition. In 2010 he was awarded an European Research Council advanced grant. He has received the Gulbenkian prize for Science and in 2011 he received the prize \"Seeds of Science\". He is an honorary member of the Portuguese Society of Immunology.\nHe is associate Director and co-founder of the European Academy of Tumor Immunology (EATI), Board Director of Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC, USA), member of AAI, SFI, and AACR. His work aims at a better understanding of the tumor microenvironment and the dynamics of the immune response in human tumors. His laboratory has identified and demonstrated the importance of the immune contexture against cancer. He defined the Immunoscore as a new method for routine clinical assessment of prognosis of patients with cancer.\n<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Bruno Silva-Santos is a Principal Investigator and Vice-President of Instituto de Medicina Molecular (IMM), and Associate Professor (with Habilitation) of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, Portugal.\nHe did his PhD with Dr. Mike Owen at The London Research Institute (CRUK), and trained as a post-doc with Prof. Adrian Hayday at King's College London. He returned to Portugal in 2006 to establish a molecular immunology laboratory at IMM. His research is dedicated to T lymphocytes and their key roles in immunity to infection and cancer. His projects range from the development of these cells in the thymus, to their functions upon infection or tumour challenge. The European Research Council (ERC) awarded him a Starting Grant in 2010 and a Consolidator Grant in 2015. He was also selected to the EMBO Young Investigator Programme (in 2011) and nominated to the European Academy of Tumour Immunology (in 2012). He serves as editor for four peer-reviewed journals and heads the Scientific Council of Lymphact SA, a biotech company focused on cancer immunotherapy.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Paula Videira is researcher at Nova Medical School, from Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (UNL) and assistant professor at Faculdade de Ciencias Medicas (UNL).\nShe is the group leader of the Glycoimmunology group at CEDOC . Leading in Glycobiology and Immunology, the main goal of her research team is to identify novel therapeutic targets and to integrate this knowledge into the development of novel dendritic cell-based vaccines and antibody-based therapeutic approaches. Paula's team has contributed to identify the expression of aberrant glycosylation in bladder cancer, and other cancers. Presently, Prof. Videira coordinates multidisciplinary projects in Glycosciences that involve her team, clinicians and Biotechnology and Pharma companies. She has several international collaborations including the Brigham and Women's Hospital - Harvard Institutes of Medicine (USA) as visiting scientist. She has been an active member of the Portuguese Association on Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (APCDG) presided by Dr. Vanessa Ferreira. Internationally, she has been awarded by the Institute Advanced Study, University of Bologna in Italy, by EMBO- European Molecular Biology Organization, and by the Fulbright Commission. Nationally, she has been awarded by Santander&UNL and Bluepharma&UC awards. Pursuing her dedication to Glycobiology, Prof. Videira is the coordinator of a distinctive International e-learning course in Glycobiology and Glycochemistry. Prof. Videira presently supervises six PhD students and several Master students and post docs.
